Vehicle chassis towed short distances get an equipment-rule exemption

Vehicle chassis that are still part of a manufacturer's assembly process and get towed less than 40 miles will be exempt from certain Indiana motor vehicle equipment requirements, under a narrow bill (SB0013) signed into law on February 16 as Public Law 2.

Sen. Doriot was primary sponsor. The Senate passed the bill unanimously 49-0 on January 6 and the House followed 93-0 on February 9. Seven additional legislators signed on as sponsors.
