A House bill (HB213) has been signed into law, allowing retired police officers to be reemployed under certain conditions.

The legislation, titled "AN ACT relating to reemployment of retired police officers," aims to provide a pathway for retired law enforcement professionals to return to service. The bill outlines the criteria and process for retired officers to be considered for reemployment in their former roles or similar positions within law enforcement agencies.

Chief sponsor Representative E. Callaway from District 37 led the effort, with co-authors B. Chester-Burton and G. Brown Jr. supporting the initiative.

The bill has been signed into law by the Governor after passing both chambers of the Kentucky General Assembly unanimously. It was enrolled and sent to the Governor following signatures from the Speaker of the House and the President of the Senate.
