Kentucky House bill HB 456 signed into law
A House bill aimed at reforming how the State Treasurer handles unclaimed property has been signed into law by Governor Beshear.
The legislation, titled "AN ACT relating to the State Treasurer and unclaimed property," seeks to streamline processes for identifying and returning lost or forgotten assets to their rightful owners. It includes provisions that aim to enhance transparency and accountability within the state's unclaimed property program.
Chief sponsor C. Freeland, along with co-author G. Brown Jr., led the effort to advance this bill through both chambers of the Kentucky legislature. The bill received unanimous support in both the House and Senate before being signed into law.
The Governor has now signed HB456, completing its journey through the legislative process and making it an official part of Kentucky's laws.
