A House bill aimed at establishing a postsecondary education working group has been signed into law by Governor Beshear. The legislation, titled "AN ACT relating to the postsecondary education working group and declaring an emergency," seeks to enhance coordination and oversight of higher education initiatives in Kentucky.

The bill creates a new working group tasked with evaluating current educational programs, identifying areas for improvement and recommending policy changes to support students transitioning from secondary to postsecondary education. The legislation also declares an emergency, indicating the immediate need for these reforms.

Chief sponsor Representative J. Tipton, along with co-author D. Grossberg, led the effort to advance this bill through both chambers of the Kentucky General Assembly. After passing both the House and Senate, the bill was enrolled and signed by the Speaker of the House and the President of the Senate before being delivered to the Secretary of State.

The Governor has now officially signed HB96 into law, marking a significant step in improving postsecondary education initiatives in Kentucky.
