Kentucky Governor signs SB 170 into law
A Senate bill aimed at addressing status offenses has been signed into law by the Governor. The legislation, titled "AN ACT relating to status offenses," seeks to modify existing laws concerning behaviors that are considered criminal only due to the age of the individual.
The bill was sponsored by Senator B. Storm from District 121 and co-sponsored by D. Carroll and M. Nunn. It passed through both chambers with significant support, ultimately receiving the Governor's signature on April 9, 2026.
SB170 has now become law following its passage in the Senate and House of Representatives, where it was enrolled and signed by the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House before being delivered to the Governor.
