Kentucky public school districts will operate under a revised set of rules for selecting, evaluating and removing principals and other school administrators after Gov. Andy Beshear signed Senate Bill 2 into law on March 26. The legislation rewrites portions of the state's school personnel statutes that govern how administrators are appointed by superintendents and reviewed by local boards.
The Senate passed SB2 unanimously, 38-0, on Feb. 8. The House cleared the measure 90-4 on March 18 after adding two floor amendments. The Senate concurred in those amendments 36-0 the following day, sending the bill to the governor.
