Kentucky workforce development programs get new funding and structure

Kentucky will direct fresh resources to workforce training and job placement programs under Senate Bill 249, which Gov. Andy Beshear signed on April 12. The bill carries an emergency clause and took effect on signing. It restructures how state workforce dollars flow to community partners and how performance is measured.
The bill passed both chambers without opposition. The Senate cleared SB249 35-0 on March 15. The House followed with a 93-0 vote on March 31, sending the bill straight to the governor.
