A Senate bill (SB291) that aims to regulate recyclers has been signed into law by the Governor, marking a significant step in enhancing recycling standards and oversight.

The legislation, titled "AN ACT relating to recyclers and declaring an emergency," introduces new regulations for recyclers operating within Kentucky. It seeks to establish clearer guidelines and accountability measures to ensure proper handling of recyclable materials.

Sponsored by Senator B. Storm from District 121, the bill received support from one co-author, M. Deneen. The legislation has now been officially enrolled and signed into law following its passage in both chambers and the override of a gubernatorial veto.

The bill has cleared both chambers with strong majorities and after being enrolled by the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House, it was delivered to the Secretary of State (Acts Ch. 182).
