Governor signs wildlife protection act into law
A Senate bill aimed at enhancing fish and wildlife conservation has been signed into law by Governor Beshear. The legislation, titled "AN ACT relating to fish and wildlife and declaring an emergency," aims to implement new measures for protecting local ecosystems.
The bill, known as SB39, introduces stricter regulations on hunting practices and establishes additional protected areas for endangered species. It also declares an immediate emergency to expedite the implementation of these conservation efforts.
Sponsored by Senator G. Boswell from District 108, the bill has garnered support from sixteen co-sponsors including C. Richardson and D. Douglas. The legislation passed through both chambers with overwhelming bipartisan support.
The Governor signed SB39 into law on April 9, 2026, officially enacting its provisions to enhance fish and wildlife conservation efforts in Kentucky.
