A Senate bill aimed at implementing utilization controls for nonopioid analgesics in the Medicaid program has cleared both chambers of the Kentucky Legislature. The bill, known as SB56, seeks to regulate and manage the use of certain pain medications within the state's Medicaid system.

The legislation, titled "AN ACT relating to utilization controls for nonopioid analgesics in the Medicaid program," aims to enhance the oversight and management of non-opioid pain relief treatments covered by Medicaid. This measure is designed to ensure that these medications are used effectively and appropriately within the healthcare system.

Chief sponsor G. Neal from District 133 leads the bill, with co-authors including A. Mays Bledsoe and G. Elkins. The bill has now been passed by both chambers after receiving concurrence on House Floor Amendments (1) and (2-title).

The Senate received the amended version of SB56 from the House and concurred with the amendments, marking its final passage through the legislative process before it proceeds to the Governor for signature or further action.
