Minnesota SF 5200 presented to governor after unanimous House passage

By Alex Smith

Minnesota SF 5200, a Senate bill that corrects miscellaneous oversights, inconsistencies, ambiguities, unintended results and technical errors in state law, has passed both chambers and was presented to the governor on May 20, 2026. The bill addresses cleanup language rather than new policy, based on its title.

The bill was sponsored by Sen. Limmer along with three co-sponsors. The House passed an amended version on May 17, 2026, by a vote of 134-0, after which the Senate concurred and repassed the bill the same day. The measure then moved through presentment procedures before reaching the governor's desk two days later. (source: https://openstates.org/mn/bills/2025-2026/SF5200/)

The bill now awaits action by the governor, who may sign or veto it.
