Education funding measure passes both chambers and heads to governor

By Alex Smith

Minnesota HF 2433, an education finance bill sponsored by Rep. Youakim, has passed both chambers of the Legislature and was presented to the governor on May 20, 2026. The bill, as its title indicates, addresses education finance in the state.

The bill was sponsored by Youakim with one co-sponsor. After the Senate returned the bill with amendments on May 16, 2026, the House took up a motion to concur with those amendments. The motion prevailed and the House repassed the bill as amended by the Senate by a vote of 129-3. (source: https://openstates.org/mn/bills/2025-2026/HF2433/)

The bill now awaits action by the governor, who may sign or veto it.
