Minnesota HF 719 presented to governor after passing both chambers
By Alex Smith
Minnesota House File 719 has passed both chambers and was presented to the governor on May 20, 2026. The bill would provide funding for the safe routes to school grant program, authorize the issuance of bonds and appropriate money for that purpose.
The bill was sponsored by Franson along with four co-sponsors. The House passed the amended bill on May 17, 2026, by a vote of 122 to 11. Before final passage, the bill was amended and went through a third reading, along with procedural motions to lay on the table and take from the table before the vote was held (source: https://openstates.org/mn/bills/2025-2026/HF719/).
The bill now awaits action by the governor, who may sign or veto it.
